The capacitor acts as a crossover, the resistor attenuates and power consumption.
If the treble is connected to the crossover, the capacitor is added, and the resistor is added. Capacitors and resistors are added without splitter. The tolerance & inductance of the resistor will affect the tone. If the amount of treble is too much, you can connect resistors in series to cut it down, also resistors must be non-inductive.
