At present, there are two common control methods for escalator energy-saving renovation:

One method is a high speed-low speed operating mode. Set the main frequency (low speed) and multi-speed frequency (high speed) as the two operating frequencies. A pair of braking resistor switches are installed at each end of the escalator.

When passengers pass the escalator, the Brake Resistor switch is triggered and outputs a switching signal to the frequency converter. When there is a flow of passengers, the infrared induction switch is triggered, and the frequency converter immediately accelerates to multiple speed frequencies, making the escalator run at high speed. When the escalator runs at high speed, the inverter’s built-in timer starts counting. If no passengers pass the escalator within the set time, the timer ends and the inverter automatically switches to the main frequency, causing the escalator to run at low speed.

If the brake resistor switch is triggered again during the timer, the timer will restart. The up and down operation of the escalator adopts external control and the switch is interlocked to ensure the normal operation of the escalator system. In order to dissipate the excess energy generated during escalator descent or braking, a braking resistor needs to be installed on the frequency converter. Another method is the mains power outage operation mode. Set the main frequency (50Hz) and stop two operating states.

Similarly, a pair of Brake Resistor switches are installed at each end of the escalator. When passengers pass the escalator, the braking resistor switch is triggered and outputs a switching signal to the frequency converter. When there is a flow of passengers, the braking resistor switch is triggered, and the frequency converter immediately accelerates to the main frequency, causing the escalator to run at the mains frequency.

When the escalator runs at industrial frequency, the built-in timer of the frequency conversion controller starts timing.
